Burnt orange is always a challenge for any florist - it's a millennial shade that's hard to find in nature, but brings out beautiful vibes. M was initially drawn to autumn tones but she fell in love with anthuriums and quirky botanical leaves, so we worked in some cleaner whites to complement CHIJMES' table florals and wispy foliage.

She also really loved trees and after we settled on having a willow at the front of the hall rather than onstage to keep the view clear and unblocked, I happened to pick up a tropical soursop at the landscaper. Imagine my surprise when their pre-wedding photos came out onscreen - shot in Bali, on a lake, by the sea, the colours blended better than we could have imagined.

No surprise that she received autumn tones for her following years' Valentines' arrangement- and the jasmine shrubs that flanked her march-in are thriving under her mother's care.
